A young African American woman just returning from years of short term projects working with rurual women in various parts of Africa, gave a presentation of her work in womens development at the African Museum, then located on west Broadway in soho. She discussed her commitment to supporting women in the field of hand craft cooperatives and the projects she had completed. Upon completing her talk she was approached by one of the curators who shared with her a new theater show opening on broadway.
